'Mine Pumpkin'

Last year we had around 70 pumpkins and we gave them away like crazy. This year for some reason we only have 5, but one is huge and Will claimed it 'Mine Pumpkin' a few weeks ago. We go check on it a few times a day to see if it has grown any bigger.

I just wanted to repaint the baseboards!

I should have realized that when you want to do just one little project on a 1928 house, it turns into a bunch of big projects.

It all started when I wanted to repaint the baseboards. They had been painted over and over for years and there were 'paint boogers' everywhere. So I began to scrape the baseboards. We (now it is 'we') then had to take out a vent along the baseboards and Richie noticed something under our laminate flooring...The original hardwood! It had been previously stained and then partially sanded before they covered it up with the laminate.

Since I had started scraping the baseboards I couldn't help but try and peel the paint from the walls which were lath and plaster. It was like peeling a sunburn... I couldn't stop!

It was too much to try and smooth these type of walls so we decided to texture the walls and replace all the window trim.

After 3 weeks of working almost every night we now have original hardwood floors, new walls, trim and paint! Thank you Richie and Will. Sorry I started this unplanned project.

Ok, so I am the ONLY member of my family who doesn't keep up on their blog and they give me a hard time about it. I don't know why it is so hard for me, but I will really try harder this year.

This is Will's 2nd halloween but his first at kind of grasping the concept. He couldn't say 'Trick or Treat', but he could sign please by waving his arm and then say 'bye' instead of 'thank you. ' He had a hard time with all the candy within arms reach and not being able to eat any. So that's why there was a sucker in his mouth most of the time he trick-or-treated.

Will and I have been at Camp Vega now for 6 weeks now. It's my 9th summer working here and the view below is one reason I keep coming back. This year Will coming with me was obviously a must, but since I am working from sun up to sun down each day, I've had a little (well, maybe a lot) help from my family. My mom came up and watched him for a couple weeks, then Richie came, then Katie, and Richie will be back on Friday to be with him until the end of camp.

The girls here LOVE him. He hasn't learned to love back quite yet!

We celebrated Richie's birthday by having a few family and friends over for cake and ice cream. Will was really excited to give his dad his first birthday present. We are so blessed to have Richie in our lives. He is the most amazing husband and father anyone could ask for. Happy Birthday Richie!

Las Vegas Visit

Will and I flew down to Las Vegas to Visit Susan, Clark and little Luke last weekend. It was so good to see them! Luke is ALL smiles. Will is 12 weeks and Luke is 18 weeks. They are growing so fast. Thanks Suz and Clark for letting us come!

Dad's BIG Idea!

So after 2 1/2 years at our house in Murray we decided that we wanted to give our incredibly ugly yard a makeover. Dad volunteered to help and what started out as a 2 week project turned out to be a 2 month project! My dad is amazing and created a masterpiece. He gave up his time to come down for 3-4 days at a time to work on the yard. I conveniently had Will around this time so I got out of most of the work. Richie on the other hand was up most days at 6am with dad and then worked after work until dark. We can't thank dad enough for all he's done for us. Now, hopefully we can keep everything alive! Here's a little slide to show the transformation

San Francisco!

Richie had a conference for work in San Francisco this last week and I decided to tag along. I had every day 9-5 to myself while Richie was gone. I decided to take full advantage. I walked about 5 miles everyday, exploring Golden Gate park, the beach, Lombard street, and the Yerba Gardens. I saved some of the good stuff to do with Richie. We went to a Giants game, Alamo Square, Fishermans Wharf, and the most exciting part....Wicked! Now it's back to work.

We can't believe it's been 7 years. Heard of the 7 year itch? Well we're not itching at all. Richie cooked me a wonderful steak dinner and then got us season tickets to the Desert Star. The month of February is busy for Richie. He has Valentines, our Anniversary and my birthday in the same week. So if you happen to see him, give him some encouragement.
